I am a native of Turin in Northern Italy and was brought to Ireland by a Kerry-woman fourteen years ago – and never looked back! I live in Galway with my family – wife Elaine, two fantastic little girls, Sive and Evelyn, and our aged Labrador, Yanu.
Apart from Mercone Photography and family life, which take up most of my time, I am a bit of a mountain bike enthusiast, which lets me really take advantage of life in the west of Ireland. On less energetic days, I have been known to binge on Game of Thrones…
I have been working as a professional photographer for the past eight years, concentrating mostly on weddings. Being a wedding photographer is the best job I can imagine and Ireland is amazing! – there are so many different kinds of couples and different approaches to the happiest day of their lives. I’ve been lucky enough to capture a whole array of celebrations – big, small, lavish, intimate, contemporary, traditional – and have developed over the years an approach to allow me capture the spirit of the day, for a true reflection of the couple and their loved ones.
Some photographers like to take on the role of Director on wedding days but I think it’s more important for the day to unfold as the bride and groom would like it to, and for me to act as a reporter. While I highly recommend taking some time to capture structured shots of yourselves, the bridal party, family and friends, to ensure you have those important images, as the day progresses, I like to step into the background and shoot the moments as they emerge.
If you like the images here on my website, please give me a call for a chat. It’s important to be fully comfortable with your choices for the big day, so I am more than happy to meet you for a coffee.
